In our latest visits to restaurants in the area we’ve had mixed results: some good, some not so good. We typically only write about places if we have something positive to say. Our thinking is this: You don’t pick up the magazine and think, “Where do I NOT want to go tonight.”
You want to know where you should go, not where you shouldn’t, so we only devote the limited amount of space we have to write about places we think you’ll enjoy.
Also in this section, as you can see below, is a listing of specials that area restaurants are offering to their customers so check it out for the latest in dining promotions from area restaurants.
We headed to Carrabba’s Italian Grill on the night of August 17 to experience one of their monthly wine dinners. At $45 it’s a good deal, with four courses and wines to match each course that is free flow (so be careful).
Houligan’s Irish Pub was another destination where we sampled some of their pub-style food and had some good, cold Yuengling draft beer. If you’re a sports fan you might want to hang out in the large bar area and watch your favorite team on one of their many screens.
Had a good turkey sandwich at Village Pub & Deli in European Village. Along with a good selection of sandwiches there’s also a serious collection of beers here from all over including 18 pale ales. Prices are great too, with domestics beers like Bud at $2.75 and just about every other beer at $4. There’s a good selection of wines here too.
We also tried some dishes at My Fifth Element, the Indian restaurant that’s also in European Village. This is a highly regarded place and the food tht we sampled was quuite good, as we checked out something from the tandoor oven as well as one of their dal dishes. Having had extensive expereince with Indian food in Asia for many years, we know what real good tandoor dishes taste ike and what we ate here was a very good exmple of tandoor cooking.
